The Story of Canada

Welcome!

The Story of Canada is an attempt to provide a chronological story of the history of Canada from the time of John Cabot to Confederation in 1867.

I undertook this project because, despite my history degree from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, I knew only vague details about the development of Canada.

Sure, I knew the names of the key figures in the story - Cartier, Champlain, Joseph Brant and General Brock. Beyond that, it was basically a blank canvas. I believe I am not alone in this general ignorance of our collective Canadian story. I hope I can paint this canvas with the amazing colour and depth of the Canadian story.

About the author

I’m Glenn J Lea and I moved to Berlin, Germany in 2001 when I married a German physician. By profession I am a Technical Writer but by choice I am a historian of Canada.

I have research and writing chops. This project is a labour of love, really. Canada gave me so much in life. It seems only fitting to write its story.
